Arbitrage Story
Arbitrage is a 2012 drama film directed by Nicholas Jarecki and starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth, and Brit Marling. Filming began in April 2011 in New York City. It opened in U.S. theaters in September 2012.
Arbitrage Plot
Sixty-year-old billionaire hedge fund manager Robert Miller has cooked his company's books in order to cover an investment loss and avoid being arrested for fraud before he can sell his company for a handsome profit. One night when the sale is almost closed, while driving with his mistress, he begins to doze off and has an accident in which she is killed. Although injured, Miller leaves the scene as the car goes up in flames. Now, in order to prevent the public, the prospective buyer James Mayfield and his wife, from discovering the truth, he tries to cover up his involvement. At the same time, he tries to avoid the police detective Bryer, who is keen on arresting a billionaire for murder, relating him to the case. While all this is going on, Miller's daughter, who works in his company, discovers that Miller cooked the books and realizes that she could be implicated and confronts her father.
