The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Story

 The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a 2012 fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson. It is the first of a three-part film adaptation of the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, to be followed by The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again, due for theatrical release in 2013 and 2014, respectively. The three films together will act as prequels to Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The story is set in Middle-earth sixty years before The Lord of the Rings, and portions of the film are adapted from the appendices to Tolkien's The Return of the King novel. An Unexpected Journey tells of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, who is convinced by the wizard Gandalf to accompany thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield on a quest across Middle-earth to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from Smaug the dragon. The film premiered in New Zealand on 28 November 2012 and was released internationally on 13 December 2012. The film is written by Peter Jackson and his longtime collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, and Guillermo del Toro, who originally was chosen to direct the film before leaving the project in 2010.

The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Plot

On his 111th birthday, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins decides to write down the full story of the adventure he took 60 years prior, for his nephew Frodo. Bilbo writes about how, prior to his own actual involvement, the Dwarf Thrór becomes King of Erebor and brings an era of prosperity to his kin until the arrival of Smaug the dragon. Smaug destroys the nearby town of Dale before driving the Dwarves out of Erebor and taking their hoard of gold. Thrór's grandson, Thorin, sees King Thranduil and his Wood-elves on a nearby hillside and is dismayed to find them taking their leave rather than aiding his people. Following this, Bilbo is tricked by the wizard, Gandalf the Grey, into hosting a party for Thorin and his band of Dwarves: Balin, Dwalin, Fili, Kili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, and their leader Thorin. Which doubles as Bilbo's recruitment as the Dwarves' "burglar" to help them steal their treasure back from Smaug. Bilbo reluctantly joins the company on their journey to the Lonely Mountain. They travel through the Lone-Lands where Bilbo is told about Thorin's attempt to reclaim the Dwarf Kingdom of Moria. Traveling onwards, the group gets captured by Trolls, but Bilbo is able to stall the Trolls from eating them until dawn, when Gandalf saves the company by exposing the Trolls to sunlight, turning them into stone. They search the Trolls' cave and find treasure and Elven blades. Thorin and Gandalf each take an Elf-made blade Orcrist and Glamdring, respectively with the latter finding an Elven shortsword, which he gives to Bilbo.

Deadfall Plot

Siblings Addison and Liza are on the run from a casino heist gone wrong. When a car accident leaves their wheel man and a state trooper dead, they split up and make a run for the Canadian border in the worst of circumstances – a near whiteout blizzard. Ex-con Jay gets released from prison and calls his parents, June and retired sheriff Chet that he'd be home for Thanksgiving. Jay confronts his coach who betrayed him and demands his money but he beats Jay up. During the struggle, Jay, a former boxer, inadvertently seriously injures the man. Thinking he's killed him and will go back to jail, he flees the scene. Hannah, a sheriff's deputy, visits Jay's parents and is invited by June to be in their Thanksgiving dinner that night. She goes back to the police station where she is treated poorly by her own father and town sheriff, Becker, not having included her in the operation of tracking down the unknown criminals.

Talaash: The Answer Lies Within is a 2012 Indian neo-noir mystery film directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions. The movie stars Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vivan Bhatena, Shernaz Patel and Raj Kumar Yadav in supporting roles. The soundtrack of the movie is scored by Ram Sampath, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. Principal photography of the film occurred during March–November 2011 taking place primarily in Mumbai, Pondicherry and London. The movie received a UA certificate from the Censor Board of India. The movie released on 30 November 2012. Box Office India declared Talaash a "semi hit" grosser in India and "super hit" in overseas.

 

Talaash Plot

Famous actor Armaan Kapoor dies in a mysterious car accident. Their are no signs of sabotage or any indications that Armaan tried to kill himself. As the nearby area is a well known red light district, the investigation becomes complicated. Inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat is saddled with the investigation. Surjan and his wife Roshni's relationship has soured after accidental drowning of their son Karan. Surjan immerses himself in the case. Preliminary investigation makes Surjan think that Armaan's death is related to blackmail, which leads him to Hotel Lido, a hotel used for prostitution ring. The investigation comes to a standstill there. Meanwhile, a pimp named Shashi is shocked to learn of Armaan's death, but tries to keep it a secret from his mistress Mallika and his deputy Temur. It is revealed that Armaan had paid that money to Shashi, but the latter knows nothing about what happened to Armaan. Here,Surjan runs into an escort named Rosie, who gives him a tip.

Killing Them Softly Plot

 Markie Trattman is the proprietor of a criminal poker ring operating in an unspecified New Orleans neighborhood. He decides to orchestrate an inside job by paying two men to rob his poker room; although he later openly admits his involvement to various criminal figures, he suffers no retaliation. In the fall of 2008, amidst the American financial crisis, a man named Johnny "Squirrel" Amato plans to rob Markie's next poker game, anticipating the mafia will blame Markie for the heist. He enlists Frankie, a former business associate, and Russell, an unstable heroin addict, to perform the robbery. Upon completing the crime, Russell travels to Florida. Driver, an emissary for the mafia, converses with a hitman named Jackie Cogan. Although Jackie understands Markie was uninvolved in the aforementioned heist, he believes Markie should be murdered in order to restore confidence amongst the local mobsters. While in Florida, Russell inadvertently informs a man named Kenny Gill of his involvement in the heist. Kenny informs Jackie, who implicates Russell, Frankie, and Squirrel as the true perpetrators. After murdering Markie, Jackie meets with Mickey Fallon, another professional hitman, to prepare for the assassinations of Russell, Frankie, and Squirrel. Jackie becomes frustrated with Mickey's flagrant lechery and alcoholism, and convinces Driver to arrest the hitman.

Nativity 2 Danger in the Manger Story

Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger is a British film written and directed by Debbie Isitt, an improvised Christmas comedy and sequel to the 2009 film Nativity![3] The film stars David Tennant playing the dual role of twin brothers, with Joanna Page as the wife of one of the brothers. Pam Ferris and Marc Wootton reprise their roles from the first film. Nativity 2 Danger in the Manger Plot

Donald Peterson is an anxious teacher who takes a job at an underachieving primary school, St Bernadette's. He struggles to deal with his rambunctious pupils and his loose cannon classroom assistant Mr Poppy, while caring for his heavily pregnant wife. He lives in the shadow of his domineering father, and his estranged, 'golden boy' identical twin brother, who is a world-famous composer and conductor. When Mr Poppy decides St Berndadette's should enter the National 'Song for Christmas' competition, he convinces Donald to sign the entry forms, later kidnapping him for an epic impromptu road trip to Christmas Castle in Wales, where the competition is being held. However, Donald's brother Roderick is also competing in the competition, mentoring the choir of posh St Cuthbert's College. Mr Shakespeare and Oakmoor are back as well, and also hoping to win. Life of Pi Story

Life of Pi is a 2012 American adventure drama film based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name. Directed by Ang Lee, the film is based on an adapted screenplay by David Magee, and stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Gérard Depardieu, Tabu, and Adil Hussain. Life of Pi Plot

Pi Patel, an immigrant from Pondicherry in India living in Montreal, Canada, is approached by a local novelist who has been referred to him by his "uncle", believing that Pi's life story would make a great book. Pi relates an extended tale: His parents had named him Piscine Molitor after a swimming pool in France. He changes his name to "Pi" when he begins secondary school, even repeating numerous digits of pi, because he is tired of being taunted with the nickname "Pissing Patel". His family owns a local zoo, and Pi takes an interest in the animals, especially a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. To teach him the reality of the tiger's nature as a carnivore, Pi's father forces him to witness it killing a goat. He is raised Hindu and vegetarian, but at 12 years old, he is introduced to Christianity and then Islam, and starts to follow all three religions. As an adult he states that he is Catholic-Hindu, and when asked if he is also Jewish, he replies that he lectures in Kabbalah at the university.

Silver Linings Playbook Plot

Pat Solitano, who has bipolar disorder, is released from a mental health facility into the care of his parents after eight months of treatment. He learns that his wife, Nikki, has moved away and his father, Pat Sr., is out of work and resorting to bookmaking to earn money to start a restaurant. Pat is determined to get his life back on track and reconcile with Nikki, who filed a restraining order against him after the violent episode that sent him away. While talking to his court-mandated therapist, Pat explains again why he was hospitalized. Coming home from work at the high school early one day, he found Nikki having sex with another teacher in their shower, while Pat and Nikki's wedding song, Stevie Wonder's "My Cherie Amour" is being played. Enraged, he nearly beat the man to death. Despite this, Pat doesn't believe he needs medication to manage his condition.

The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn – Part 2 Plot

Bella awakens from her transformation from human to vampire, not only keenly aware of her new abilities, but also of changes within the coven as Jacob has imprinted on her child, Renesmee. It also appears that Bella's father, Charlie, has been attempting to contact the Cullens for updates on Bella's illness. They intend to tell him she didn't survive, which requires that they move out of Forks, Washington to protect their identities. Jacob, desperate not to lose Renesmee, tells Charlie that his daughter is in fact alive and well, and transforms into a werewolf before Charlie to demonstrate that Bella has had to change in order to survive. Several months pass uneventfully, with Carlisle monitoring Renesmee's rapid growth with Bella, Edward, Jacob and the rest of the Cullen family worrying what will become of her with such a rapid growth rate. On an outing in the woods, a bitter Irina sees Renesmee from a distance, as the immortal child. Irina decides to go to the Volturi for reporting a supposed crime.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a 2012 Indian romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra and written and produced by Aditya Chopra under their production banner Yash Raj Films. The film features Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles, making it the first film to pair Khan and Kaif and the second collaboration between Khan and Sharma after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.[3] It was Yash Chopra's fourth film to feature Shahrukh Khan in the lead role, the former returning as a director after eight years post Veer-Zaara, which released in 2004.[4] Jab Tak Hai Jaan was Yash Chopra's last directorial venture before his death on 21 October 2012. The background score and soundtrack were composed by A.R. Rahman, while the lyrics penned by Gulzar. The film released during the six-day Diwali weekend that began on 13 November 2012.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan Plot

Samar Anand, a major in the Indian Army, defuses a bomb showing no fear or regard for personal safety. After a while, Akira Rai, a Discovery Channel filmmaker, dives into a river in Ladakh and is rescued by the major. Samar gives her his jacket but leaves before retrieving it. Akira finds his diary in the jacket pocket and starts reading. The diary recounts Samar's earlier years as a struggling immigrant in London. He worked as a musician and found other menial jobs to support him and his roommate. One day Samar is offered work as a part-time waiter where he meets Meera during her engagement party. In exchange for English lessons, Samar agrees to teach her how to sing. In the process, Samar and Meera fall in love. On the day Meera is supposed to tell her father about their relationship, Samar gets into a terrible accident. Meera prays to God to save his life and makes a vow to never meet him again. Soon Samar makes a speedy recovery and comes to know about the vow. In anger he tells her to go away and leaves London. Samar challenges God to keep him alive while he will risk his life everyday because he believes his death is the only way to make Meera lose her faith in the deity who stole his love. He goes to India and enlists in the Indian Army.

Lincoln Story

Lincoln is a 2012 American historical drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as United States President Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. Filming began October 17, 2011, and ended on December 19, 2011. Lincoln premiered on October 8, 2012, at the New York Film Festival. The film was released on November 9, 2012, in select cities and widely released on November 16, 2012, in the United States by DreamWorks through Disney’s Touchstone distribution label in the U.S. The film is scheduled for release on January 25, 2013 in the United Kingdom, with distribution in international territories, including the U.K., by 20th Century Fox.

Lincoln Plot

Lincoln recounts President Abraham Lincoln's efforts, during January 1865, to pass in the United States House of Representatives the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution that would formally abolish slavery in the country. Expecting the Civil War to end within a month but concerned that his 1863 Emancipation Proclamation may be discarded by the courts once the war has concluded and the 13th Amendment defeated by the returning slave states, Lincoln feels it is imperative to pass the amendment by the end of January, thus removing any possibility that slaves who have already been freed may be re-enslaved. The Radical Republicans fear the amendment will merely be defeated and some wished to delay; the support of the amendment by Republicans in the border states is not yet assured either, since they prioritize the issue of ending the war. Even if all of them are ultimately brought on board, the amendment will still require the support of several Democratic congressmen if it is to pass. With dozens of Democrats having just become lame ducks after losing their re-election campaigns in the fall of 1864, some of Lincoln's advisers believe that he should wait until the new Republican-heavy Congress is seated, presumably giving the amendment an easier road to passage. Lincoln, however, remains adamant about having the amendment in place and the issue of slavery settled before the war is concluded and the southern States reintegrated into the Union.

Wreck-It Ralph is a 2012 American 3D computer-animated family-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. When Litwak's Arcade closes at night, the various video-game characters leave their normal in-game roles and are free to travel to other games. Within the game Fix-It Felix, Jr., the characters celebrate its titular hero but shun the game's villain character, Wreck-It Ralph. At a support group for video-game antagonists, Ralph reveals his desire to stop being the bad guy. Back at home, Ralph finds the other characters celebrating their game's 30th anniversary without inviting him. Felix reluctantly invites Ralph to join them, but the others ostracize him, saying he would have to earn a medal, just as Felix does in their game.

The Man with the Iron Fists Story

The Man with the Iron Fists is a 2012 American martial arts film directed by RZA and written by RZA and Eli Roth. The film stars Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Byron Mann, RZA, Rick Yune, David Bautista, and Jamie Chung. Set in 19th century China, the story follows a series of lone warriors who are forced to unite to defeat a common foe and save their home of Jungle Village. Development began as early as 2005 when RZA shared his idea for the film with Roth. After nearly two years of development by the pair, they were able to secure financial backing in May 2010. Filming began in December 2010 on a $20 million budget and concluded by March 2011. The film was shot entirely in China, including the city of Shanghai. The film's score is composed by RZA and Howard Drossin, and its soundtrack is developed by RZA, featuring several new songs by various artists. A series of concerts were held to promote the film, featuring music from the soundtrack.

The Man with the Iron Fists Plot

In nineteenth century China, Jungle Village is home to several warring clans. The village Blacksmith creates deadly weapons for the clans, intending to use his payments to purchase the freedom of his lover Lady Silk, and leave the village. The region's governor tasks the Lion Clan's leader Gold Lion with protecting a large shipment of gold that must pass through the village. Gold is betrayed by his lieutenants Silver Lion and Bronze Lion, who plan to steal the gold. They use the chaos of a fight with the Hyena Clan to allow their co-conspirator Poison Dagger to assassinate Gold; Silver becomes the Lions' leader. Gold's son Zen-Yi learns of his father's murder and sets off to the village to seek revenge.

Flight Story

Flight is a 2012 American drama film directed and co-produced by Robert Zemeckis starring Denzel Washington, with Don Cheadle, Melissa Leo, Bruce Greenwood, Kelly Reilly, and John Goodman. Flight is Zemeckis' first live-action film since Cast Away and What Lies Beneath, which were both released in 2000. It is also his first R-rated film since Used Cars in 1980.

Flight Plot

Airline captain William "Whip" Whitaker awakens in his Orlando hotel room with flight attendant Katerina Marquez after a night of sex, alcohol, and very little sleep. He uses cocaine to wake up then boards SouthJet flight 227 to Atlanta. After Whip threads the plane through turbulence at takeoff, copilot Ken Evans flies the plane while Whip discreetly mixes vodka in his orange juice and takes a nap. Whip is jolted awake just before their final descent and the plane goes into a steep dive. After failing to achieve any pitch control, Whip rolls the plane into an inverted position to bring it out of the dive and then maneuvers the plane right-side up just before crash-landing in a field. He loses consciousness upon impact.

Skyfall Story

Skyfall is the twenty-third James Bond film, produced by Eon Productions and distributed by MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2012. It features Daniel Craig's third performance as James Bond, and Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's antagonist. The film was directed by Sam Mendes and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan.The film centres on Bond investigating an attack on MI6; it transpires that the attack is part of a plot by former MI6 operative Raoul Silva to humiliate, discredit, and kill M as revenge against her for betraying him. Skyfall Plot

In Istanbul, MI6 agents James Bond and Eve chase a mercenary, Patrice, who has stolen a computer hard drive containing details of undercover agents placed in terrorist organisations by NATO states. Patrice wounds Bond in the shoulder and, as the two men fight atop a train, Eve inadvertently shoots Bond, allowing Patrice to escape. Bond falls into a river and goes missing, presumed dead.In the aftermath of the operation, M, the head of MI6, comes under political pressure to retire from Gareth Mallory, the Intelligence and Security Committee Chairman. On her return from the meeting, MI6's servers are breached and M receives a taunting message via computer moments before the offices explode, killing a number of employees. MI6 relocates to its emergency offices underground. Bond, having used his supposed death to retire, learns of the attack and returns to London. Although he fails a series of physical and psychological examinations, M approves his return to the field nonetheless. Shrapnel taken from a shoulder wound helps identify Patrice, and intelligence places him in Shanghai, where he is planning an assassination. Bond is ordered to identify Patrice's employer, recover the stolen hard drive and kill Patrice.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is a 2012 3D film directed and written by Michael J. Bassett and a sequel to the horror film Silent Hill. On an estimated $20 million budget, filming lasted from March to May 2011 in Canada, with the 3D RED Epic camera used for the process; audio mixing took place in France. Revelation 3D has grossed $47,943,537, as of December 16, 2012, and has received mainly negative reviews by film critics.

 

Silent Hill Revelation 3D Plot

Following the previous film, Rose Da Silva and her daughter Sharon are trapped in Silent Hill, an alternate dimension shrouded in falling ash. Rose contacts her husband Christopher in the real world through a mirror and manages to send Sharon to him using an amulet. Rose remains behind to distract the cult that wants Sharon. Sharon has no memory of the events in Silent Hill, and Christopher lies to her that her mother died in a car accident.Years later, a teenage Sharon and her father live under the assumed identities of Heather and Harry Mason respectively. The pair are constantly relocating and altering their identity to hide from the cult. Heather suffers from recurring nightmares of herself in the Silent Hill amusement park where she is set on fire by the evil Alessa. During her journey to school, Heather is questioned about her identity by Douglas Cartland, a private investigator hired by the cult, but Heather avoids the situation. At school she meets Vincent, another student who she runs into after the school transforms into a nightmarish alternate reality. After school she again sees Douglas, and calls her father. After the call, Harry is abducted by an unseen force. Later, Heather waits at a mall for Harry when reality again shifts, unleashing monstrous creatures. After evading the monsters, Heather encounters Douglas who is killed by a monster and dragged away. Upon returning to the real world, Heather finds Douglas' corpse and flees.

Cloud Atlas Story

Cloud Atlas is a 2012 German drama and science fiction film written and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer. It was adapted from the 2004 novel by David Mitchell. The project had difficulty securing financial support during its four-year development, but was eventually produced with a $102 million budget provided by independent sources, making Cloud Atlas one of the most expensive independent films of all time. Featuring an ensemble cast to enact the film's multiple storylines, production began in September 2011 at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany.The film premiered on September 9, 2012, at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival and was released on October 26, 2012 in conventional and IMAX cinemas. The film was pre-nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects that had a first round of votes which resulted in 10 films. All members of the Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view ten-minute excerpts from each of the ten short-listed films on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Following the screenings, the members will vote to nominate five of these films for final Oscar consideration. The film is currently nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil.

 

Cloud Atlas Plot

An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution. The film consists of six interrelated and interwoven stories that take the viewer from the South Pacific in the 19th century to a distant, post-apocalyptic future. Unlike the original novel, the film is structured, according to novelist David Mitchell, "as a sort of pointillist mosaic: We stay in each of the six worlds just long enough for the hook to be sunk in, and from then on the film darts from world to world at the speed of a plate-spinner, revisiting each narrative for long enough to propel it forward."

The Sessions Story

The Sessions (originally titled The Surrogate) is a 2012 American independent drama film written and directed by Ben Lewin. It is based on an essay by Mark O'Brien, a poet paralyzed from the neck down due to polio who hired a sex surrogate to lose his virginity. John Hawkes and Helen Hunt star as O'Brien and sex surrogate Cheryl Cohen Greene respectively. Paranormal Activity 4 is a 2012 American supernatural horror film, directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, directors of Paranormal Activity 3, and written by Zack Estrin. The film features Katie Featherston, who starred in the first film, and had cameos in the other two. The film was released in theaters and IMAX on October 17, 2012 in the United Kingdom and was released on October 18, 2012 in the United States, by Paramount Pictures. It is the fourth film in the Paranormal Activity film series, and a sequel to Paranormal Activity 2, set several years later. Despite being a critical failure, Paranormal Activity 4 became a box office success.

 

Paranormal Activity 4 Plot

On October 9th, 2006, Kristi Rey and her husband are killed by Kristi's demon-possessed sister Katie, who then kidnaps Kristi's baby son, Hunter, and leaves Kristi's house. Katie and Hunter's whereabouts are still unknown until 2011. In 2011, a teenager named Alex and her family living in suburban Henderson, Nevada with her mother Holly, her father Doug, and her little brother Wyatt.Alex and her boyfriend Ben discover the neighbor's child, Robbie hiding in their family tree-house. Over the next few days, Robbie stares at the house for hours and at night lights turn on and off. Alex talks to Ben on webcam showing Robbie staring at the house. The camera begins to fuzz and Alex is thrown out of the room by a black figure.

Alex Cross Story

Alex Cross is a 2012 American crime thriller film starring Tyler Perry as the titular character and Matthew Fox as villain Picasso. The film is directed by Rob Cohen based on an adapted screenplay by Marc Moss and Kerry Williamson. This is the third film appearance of the character Alex Cross, the main character of a series of novels by James Patterson. Cross was previously portrayed by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls (1997) and Along Came a Spider (2001). In 2010, Idris Elba was attached to star, but he was replaced by Perry. Filming took place in 2011. The film was released on October 19, 2012 in the United States and Canada.

 

Alex Cross Plot

Dr. Alex Cross is a psychologist and police lieutenant who lives in the Indian village neighborhood of Detroit with his wife, Maria, their children, Damon and Janelle, and his grandmother, Nana Mama. Upon learning that Maria is pregnant with their third child, Cross considers accepting a job as an FBI profiler, but fears Maria's reaction, as it would require them to relocate to Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, a man called Picasso participates in an underground mixed martial arts match, where he flirts with businesswoman Fan Yau. After brutally beating his opponent, Picasso is invited to Fan Yau's house. There, he sedates, tortures, and kills her.
